Judel Judelman

Judel (Julius, Yehuda) Judelman was born in Skoudas, Lithuania on 1 May 1881. In 1906, at age 25, he received his Electrical Engineering diploma at the Technikum Elektra Polytechnic Institute in Berlin.

Judel married Minnie Fisher from Riga in 1918 and their three boys were born in Skud, Lithuania. Lazar 1919, Ben 1921 & Hennie 1925.

In 1925 Judel, Seeking a better life for his family, Judel left Skud, Lithuania for South Africa, leaving his wife and children in Lithuania.
Judel, with the help of his brothers, took over a general dealer store in a semi-rural area called Mooiplaas outside Pretoria. Mooiplaas was very isolated and

in their early years they did not yet have electricity.

He brought the family out in 1931 to live in Mooiplaas.
The family had a general store which had a house attached where the family lived for a while.

Judel ran a store in Mooiplaas until his death in 1944.
